The fuel scarcity across the country is set to end soon, as Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) yesterday agreed with the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) to suspend their strike. Osun State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on Friday wrote an open letter to the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, over unpaid six months salaries, as well as other welfare packages for its members and other workers in the state. The Federal Government on Thursday said it had so far paid oil marketers N500bn within the last five months as fuel subsidy. This was contained in a statement by Mr Paul Nwabuikwu, the spokesperson to the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it has stopped 20 people from smuggling drugs out of Nigeria. The agency, in a statement on Thursday, said since January 2014, 19 Nigerians and a Ghanaian have been arrested in Nigerian airports attempting to smuggle 106,914 kilogrammes of narcotics. “Sixteen of the suspects were apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos while four others including a Ghanaian were caught at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu,” reports quote NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade to have said. “Their final destinations are Malaysia, China and Thailand where drug trafficking is punishable by death.”…
