Nine men in possession of three voters registration machines reportedly belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, have been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command. It was learnt that the suspects arrested on Thursday night, in a hotel in Elele, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state. The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the distribution of Permanent Voters Card in Kaduna State, which it earlier schedule to take start on Saturday (today). This was contained in a statement by INEC Commissioner in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Tambuwal, in Kaduna on Saturday. It stated that the PVC distribution would now hold from Monday, December 8 to Friday, December 12, while the Continuous Voter Registration would hold from Friday, December12 to December 17. Over ten soldiers lost their lives while defending Ashaka town in Gombe State from Boko Haram attack on Thursday, the Defence Headquarters has said. “Over 10 soldiers, however, died in the battle while those who were wounded are being treated in military hospitals”, the DHQ said.
