The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has described state governments as the most corrupt tier in Nigeria. EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, stated this in Abuja yesterday at a workshop organized by the commission in collaboration with House of Representatives Committee on State and Local Government Training, on anti-corruption, fiscal responsibility and good governance for state officials. The House of Representatives has directed its Committee on Education to review the federal government’s directive to schools to resume on September 22 as against October 13 to prevent the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country. The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday passed into law a bill to provide for disposal of unclaimed corpses in the state hospitals through cremation. The bill, which had passed through the third reading, was unanimously adopted by the members of the house during a plenary in Akure. 500,224 jobs were created in Nigeria in the first half of 2014, the latest job creation figure released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), yesterday showed. A boat mishap has claimed at least 33 persons in Niger State, reports have said. The accident, which happened over the weekend occured between Dere in Niger State and Murtala Bridge on the River Niger around 4.30am.
