The Executive Secretary, National Human Rights Commission, Prof. Bem Angwe, has warned Dangote Cement Company to remedy the environmental hazards caused by its excavation activities or face court summon. Gospel Singer Kefee was yesterday laid to eternal rest in her hometown, Okpara, as friends and family cried in Ethiope East Local Government, Delta State. The mourners all carried black posters with Kefee’s photo and all wore black as they went to the burial site. The Supreme Court in Abuja on Friday cleared all charges of certificate forgery levelled against the Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam by a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Mr. Terver Kakih. The Supreme Court on Friday held that the illegal removal of 148 elected local government officials by the Abia State governor smacked of “official recklessness”. In a judgment delivered yesterday, a seven-member panel of justices of the apex court said no state governor has the right to illegally remove a democratically elected local government official. The apex court also ordered the Abia State Government to pay the sacked 148 elected officials of the local government areas of the state their salaries and entitlement for the 23 months they had to stay in office prior to the expiration of their tenure.…
