Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted comments credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, on the likelihood of the PDP winning a governorship election should there be any rerun in the state. 13 government agencies have been exempted from the current Treasury Single Account (TSA) arrangement related to electronic or e-collection and mop up exercise of government funds from commercial banks. A circular exempting the agencies was communicated to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF). The excluded agencies of government are “profit oriented government business entities that pay dividends to the Federal Government of Nigeria”. Benue State residents yesterday were throwned in jubilation as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi upheld the election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Samuel Ortom. The tribunal dismissed the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Terhemen Tarzoor, for lacking in merit. Justice Elizabeth Karatu, who read the three-hour judgment, said the petitioner failed to prove that Governor Ortom was not qualified to stand election. The Emir of Kano and Amirul hajj, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, has urged Nigerian pilgrims to accept the arrangement put in place by the Saudi authorities concerning the ‘stoning of the devil’ at Jamarat. Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Friday commenced the booking of motorists that breach traffic laws as advocated by the state governor.
