Men of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested one of their own, a police sergeant, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old daughter of a popular pastor at Nkpor in Idemili Council Area of the state. Passengers of a commuter bus escaped death when their bus caught fire close to an Oando filling station at Ojodu Alagbole Akute Road, Odo-Eran Bus-Stop, Ogun State on Sunday evening after a heavy rainfall. Also burnt were another commuter bus and a Sienna space bus parked in the filling station. The filling station was said to be completely burnt down. The Kebbi Government on Tuesday commenced the training of 150 Sharia Courts Judges on advanced Sharia Legal System to enhance dispensation of Islamic Justice in the state. Addressing the participants in Birnin Kebbi, the Chief Registrar, Sharia Court of Appeal, Alhaji Muhammad Sani, said the training would improve Judges’ practical knowledge and enhance their understanding and memory on Sharia legal system. “The Sharia Court Judges would be trained on inheritance, marital complex, divorce, debt and land utilisation strictly in line with the Islamic jurisprudence,” he said. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has discovered 2.460kg of cocaine hidden inside female shoes and voltage regulators, popularly called ‘stabilizers’, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The seizures were made in a consignment of female shoes from Brazil aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight and a shipment of voltage regulators meant for export to Gabon on a DHL cargo flight.
