Yesterday, Sahara Reporters TV released a video of passengers stuck on an Arik Air plane bound for New York. The air conditioning wasn’t turned on (or wasn’t functional – we’re unable to determine from the video) and as a result the passengers went berserk! People were fainting from the ensuing heat, others were taking off their clothes, It was really a messy sight. Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, said on Monday in Abuja that the commission would monitor campaign funds of political parties in the 2015 general election. Jega, who said this at an interactive session with Editors and News Directors, said the commission would also monitor funds of candidates. He said the commission would partner with non-governmental organisations to achieve this objective. “We are setting a mechanism in place to monitor campaign funds of political parties and candidates”, he said. The decision of the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution to modify sections 68 and 109 in the proposed amendments is currently causing disquiet in the Red chamber. Ghana’s health authorities have announced the first suspected case of the deadly Ebola disease at the country’s second biggest hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), in Kumasi. The Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) on Monday claimed that Mr. Ebikeme, the son of frontline Ijaw leader, Chief E.K. Clark, masterminded his well-publicised abduction. Son of Chief E.K Clark, Mr Ebikeme Clark, has been accused by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) of orchestrating his own kidnapping in order to defraud the state government. In a statement signed by its spokesman, Jomo Gbomo, the group said it “was actually a clever orchestrated fraud masterminded by Ebikeme who stage-managed his own abduction.” It said that “the ransom of 500Million Naira was paid by the Delta State Government from its security vote and was shared amongst all those involved in this scam.
