ABUJA (Federal Ministry of Aviation Report) – The Minister of Aviation, Osita Benjamin Chidoka has called for a greater technical partnership between the Ministry of Aviation and the International Road Safety Organisation (IRSO).
He made the call when he was honoured with a Medal Award by the International Road Safety Organisation (IRSO) on Thursday November 20, 2014 in his office. The Minister, who appreciated the organisation for the award remarked that to him, road safety is not a job but a passion. He added that the IRSO has come a long way with the Road Safety family; indicating that the Federal Road Safety Commission is destined for greater outcomes as it has the human resource to do so.
The Minister promised to ensure effective mobility and safety of passengers in the air sector in Nigeria. He also stated that both air and road safety are very critical and so partnership with the IRSO for bringing about safety is imperative. He opined that he is looking forward to sustainable technical partnership with the organisation; saying the Ministry and the Aviation Sector would continue to push through the ideals of safety in the aviation sector.
Speaking earlier, the President of the International Road Safety Organisation, Joop Goos in presenting the Medal Award to the Minister remarked that the award was to appreciate the Minister of Aviation for his great strides when he was the Head of the Federal Road Safety Commission and the President of the African Road Safety Organisation where he recorded great achievements.
Joop Goos averred that the impact made by Osita Chidoka to the FRSC was unprecedented, expressing assurance that the Minister will replicate and even do more in the air sector than in the road sector.
