Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has declared that he and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde are not afraid of anyone as they prepare for the 2027 general elections under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Mohammed made the declaration on Thursday during the party’s South-West town hall meeting in Akure, Ondo State, where he described the APM as the biggest opposition party in Nigeria.

The governor said the party was determined to present an alternative political direction for the country, insisting that its leadership was driven by knowledge, planning and a clear understanding of Nigeria’s challenges.
According to him, although the APM is relatively young as a political platform, its members possess the experience and ideas required to participate in the contest for national leadership.
“We have come home, this is the home of Seyi Makinde, the new manifestation, the new face of politics in Nigeria. As a party, we are young and we have a young presidential candidate. We are young but we are not young upstairs as we are driven by knowledge, plans, we know where we are coming from and where we want to go,” Mohammed said.
The Bauchi governor also expressed appreciation to the APM for providing a political platform for him and Makinde, explaining that both politicians had continued their political journey after reaching a point where they could no longer remain in their previous political arrangement.
He said their decision to align with the party was informed by their desire to pursue their political ambitions and offer Nigerians an alternative to the existing political order.
“We must thank the APM for giving us sanctuary because they believe in us. We fought our way, me and my brother Seyi Makinde, until we could not stay any longer,” he stated.
Mohammed further argued that the APM had established itself as a significant opposition platform, citing the presence of two serving governors and the party’s proposed vision for the country.
“Today, we are the biggest opposition in this country with two governors and a vision that we are presenting,” he said.
He urged residents of the South-West to consider the party’s presidential candidate, Makinde, ahead of the 2027 election, describing the region as an important political base for the party.
The governor also highlighted the need for political rotation, saying the party believed in giving different sections of the country opportunities to produce national leaders.
According to him, the decision to present Makinde as its presidential candidate reflected the party’s commitment to that principle.
Mohammed maintained that he and Makinde were accustomed to opposition politics and would not be intimidated by political challenges or their opponents.
“We are not afraid as opposition. Me and him have always come out of opposition; we are not afraid of anybody,” he added.
The meeting formed part of the APM’s political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the party seeks to expand its presence and present its agenda to voters across the country.
The declaration comes amid continuing political realignments ahead of the next general election, with parties and prominent political figures positioning themselves for the presidential contest.
