The Association of Chief Audit Executives of Banks in Nigeria (ACAEBIN) has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting professionalism of audit practice, ethical standards and interbank cooperation.

Chairman of ACAEBIN, Yinka Tiamiyu, revealed this in Lagos, at the yearly capacity development programme for internal auditors in partnership with the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) titled, ‘Cybersecurity with special emphasis on cloud security, areas of vulnerability, challenges and assurance’.

Tiamiyu said the programme was in fulfillment of ACAEBIN’s commitment towards ensuring that auditors get the right skill set to discharge their duties.

He urged the participants to maximise the opportunity provided by the association, describing it as part of FITC’s contribution to boosting capacity in the industry.

ACAEBIN’s Second Vice Chairman and Head, Sub-Committee on Emerging Issues, Felix Igbinosa, said the theme of the training had become more relevant as organisations are migrating huge data to the cloud to enable them to work remotely.

He stressed that there was the need for the auditors to ensure that such assets are protected from hackers who are working tirelessly to get a hold of such information for ransom.

He assured the participants that his committee would continue to initiate training on emerging issues in the industry to ensure that auditors are up-to-date on areas of job in order to enhance their capacity to deliver on their assignments.

He enjoined them to ensure that they cascade the learning points of the training to other team members in their various organizations.

Chief Audit Executive, Providus Bank Limited, Aina Amah, said since the outbreak of COVID-19, the association has held all its programmes online, but noting participants in online training/programmes multitask hence they easily get distracted.

Amah, who doubles as the auditor of the association, said a review of the impact of the training would be conducted to determine whether to continue with physical training or revert to online activities.
