Spanish giants Barcelona have finally spoken about the investigation into the transfer of Brazilian starlet Neymar, calling the Spanish Court case “baseless and unnecessary”, reports ESPN.
.
The claims are that Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has not revealed certain details to the board members of the club, prompting one of his biggest rivals for control at Camp Nou to take the case to the Audiencia Nacional.
.
Spanish press are reporting the club have released a statement saying : “Futbol Club Barcelona (FCB) wishes to express its indignation at the report released on Friday by the Fiscal de l’Audiencia Nacional (National Public Prosecutor’s Office) concerning the signing of Neymar da Silva Santos Junior.”
.
Details of the report are still private, but speculation in Madrid is indicating the court believes a fabricated contract may have been created for the board.
.
Neymar, who is thought to have cost Barcelona €57million could actually have cost up to €74million.
.
Investigators are also said to be looking into claims Neymar’s family received over €40million as a signing on bonus for the youngster.
.
Barcelona as a club has fierce traditions, and signings are expected to conform to these. The cases claims could be disastrous for the club – if proven to be true – creating a rift within the board and besmirching the development of the youngster.
