Bauchi PDP Youth Coalition Declares Support for Acting National Chairman Damagum

Amid the ongoing leadership tussle within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Bauchi State PDP Coalition Youth Stakeholders have expressed their unwavering support for the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum.

The group criticized Damagum’s detractors, stating that many of them failed to secure victories in their polling units during the last elections.

Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday, the coalition’s leader, Sagir A. Sardauna, warned against any attempts to undermine the party’s acting chairman.

“We will not tolerate any attacks or disrespect toward our National Chairman,” Sardauna declared.

The group pledged to oppose any unconstitutional efforts to remove Damagum and called for compliance with the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which barred his removal.

“We fully back him and hereby affirm our total support for our party’s acting national chairman, H.E. Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum,” Sardauna added.

The youth coalition praised Damagum’s loyalty to the PDP since 1998 and highlighted his commitment to the party’s success, noting his support for the 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, from the primaries through the general elections.

They further emphasized Damagum’s historic leadership, pointing out that under his guidance, the PDP achieved victory in Yobe State for the first time.

The group also lauded Damagum’s ongoing backing of the party’s governorship candidate in Edo State as the legal battle over the election continues.

The coalition accused certain individuals, whom they described as politically weak in their own states, of unfairly targeting Damagum.

These individuals, the group alleged, are spreading false narratives under the pretext of anti-party activities to pursue personal ambitions for the 2027 elections.

The Bauchi PDP youths reiterated their support for Damagum’s efforts to maintain party unity and resist actions that could dismantle the party’s structure.
