Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 23-year-old suspected thief, Ukasha Adamu, for his alleged involvement in a syndicate specializing in warehouse theft across the metropolis.
Adamu, a resident of Ajiya Adamu Road in Bauchi, was apprehended on November 11, 2024, following an investigation by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
According to a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the syndicate used fabricated keys to break into warehouses and steal valuable goods.
Recovered items include:
- 150 bags of parboiled rice
- 43 cartons of spaghetti
- 20 cartons of vegetable oil
- 42 cartons of liquid fertilizer
The total value of the stolen goods was estimated at over ₦13.25 million.
RRS Arrests Suspected Dealer of Harmful Substances
In a related operation, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by CSP Suleiman M. Tambuwal, arrested a suspected dealer of harmful substances at Tudun Wadan Dan Iya, Bayan Gari.
The suspect, identified as Kabiru Adamu, was found in possession of hundreds of bottles of methylene chloride, commonly known as “Suck and Die,” along with diamond rubber solution.
The substances, sold for as low as ₦300 and ₦250 per unit, are known to be harmful and potentially lethal.
Kabiru admitted to distributing the substances under the instructions of a boss, receiving payment for his role in the operation.
Commissioner Orders Further Investigations
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed thorough investigations to ensure the prosecution of the suspects and the apprehension of other members of the syndicate.
The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities to ensure the safety and security of the community.
