The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, has dismissed speculations that Governor Bala Mohammed may be considering a defection to the party, insisting that there is no place for him within its ranks.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Secretary of the party, Wada Abdullahi, and made available to journalists in Bauchi on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the PRP’s attention was drawn to reports circulating on social media suggesting that Governor Mohammed could seek refuge in the party following what it described as the alleged disintegration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, across the country.

However, the party declared that even if such reports were true, the governor would not be welcomed.
Abdullahi said the PRP was dissatisfied with Governor Mohammed’s leadership record in Bauchi State, describing his performance in office as falling below the standards and values upheld by the party.
“Governor Bala Mohammed’s tenure has been marked by poor performance, which is disappointing and unacceptable to our party,” the statement said.
The party also cited what it described as the governor’s conduct, alongside that of his supporters, during recent events at Wadata Plaza in Abuja, noting that such behaviour was inconsistent with the PRP’s core principles of discipline, orderliness and decorum.
The PRP further warned that if it emerges victorious in the 2027 governorship election, it would undertake a comprehensive review of the current administration’s policies, investigate alleged misconduct and reverse decisions it considers detrimental to the state’s development.
These, the party said, include the creation of a First Class Emirate and the appointment of the governor’s elder brother as Emir.
Despite its stance on Governor Mohammed, the PRP stressed that it remains open to citizens of proven integrity who are genuinely committed to the development of Bauchi State.
“Our doors remain open to individuals who truly align with our vision for a better Bauchi State,” Abdullahi added.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to principled leadership, transparency and the welfare of the people of the state.
