Barrister Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has issued a call to vigilance to party members, saying that the administration is preparing for a possible rerun under the auspices of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
If their evil plan comes to fruition, Abure warned his party members, APC and its administration would suffer even more electoral humiliation.
He said he made the claim because he had evidence showing the APC knew the wind was blowing strongly against it.

However, the Chairman called on “the members of the party to be on the alert and get ready to further humiliate APC and its government in the polls if their sinister plot materialises.”
Obiora Ifoh, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, released a statement in Abuja on Monday revealing that Abure made the allegations during an online meeting with the Nigerian-American Coalition for Justice and Democracy, led by Professor Eddie Oparaoji, the LP Diaspora Chairman in the United States.
There have been rumblings in the government about a possible rerun, and this is one of the forms of backing we will be seeking from you.
Since the government officials are already making plans for a rerun, we shouldn’t let ourselves be caught off guard.
If “per adventure it happens today,” Abure added, “that the election is nullified,” which is not what they are asking for because they want Peter Obi declared outright as President of Nigeria.
According to the LP’s Chairman, given the evidence at hand, the party is certain in its victory in the 2023 general election and expects nothing less than the official proclamation of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
To this, Abure said, “supposing it didn’t happen as the government is believed to be planning for a rerun, it will not also be out of place for us to be preparing for a rerun election.”
He added that the party had presented all of its material to the tribunal and was hoping for a favourable ruling.
