The Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its readiness to participate in the forthcoming local government elections in the state. The decision was made after extensive consultations with party leaders and members.
Party chairman John Ngbede made the announcement during an expanded caucus meeting of the PDP on Monday in Makurdi.
The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) had recently declared the upcoming council election at a stakeholders’ meeting in Makurdi.

Ngbede emphasized that the PDP is committed to participating in the elections and will oppose the All Progressives Congress (APC) to foster development at the grassroots level, reminiscent of when the PDP was in power in the state.
“We have set machinery in motion in line with the guidelines set by the BSIEC.
We shall begin the sale of forms to aspirants and screenings of candidates will commence soon,” Ngbede said.
He further announced that the cost of the chairmanship form is N150,000, while the councilorship form is N75,000.
