Despite internal challenges within the state’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Benue State House of Assembly unequivocally expressed confidence in Governor Hyacinth Alia during Friday’s plenary session.
Simon Gabo, representing Mata state constituency, commended the governor’s unparalleled performance, especially as the 2024 budget was presented.
Gabo moved a motion, urging his colleagues to collectively endorse a vote of confidence in Governor Alia.
Applauding Alia’s remarkable achievements in just over six months, Gabo highlighted the governor’s reputation as “Mr 25th” among Benue residents, emphasizing the prompt payment of salaries and pensions, as well as substantial infrastructural development without incurring debt.
“The governor has been nicknamed Mr 25th by the Benue people because of the prompt payment of salary and pensions and has embarked on huge infrastructural development without incurring any debt,” Gabo stated.
Peter Ipusu, representing Katsina-Ala state constituency, seconded the motion, praising the governor’s dedication to improving the lives of Benue citizens. Ipusu also commended Speaker Aondona Dajoh for his exemplary leadership of the house.
In the absence of any dissenting opinion, Speaker Dajoh presided over the affirmation, officially passing a vote of confidence in Governor Alia.
The assembly’s resolute stance signals ongoing support for the governor amid the internal party turmoil.
