“Nolly Thursdays” which has been described as the new Industry Night” for the Nigerian film industry, is geared towards promoting and celebrating Nollywood movies (old and new) in the cinema.
The next edition of the event is set to hold on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Genesis Cinemas The Palms, with the special guest as Bimbo Akintola.
Akintola is a veteran in the Nigerian, who started acting as a pupil with her peers. Her debut acting featured her in the film “Owo Blow” (1995) and “Out of Bounds” (1997) for which she was awarded the Best Actress/English Actress in Nigeria.
She has since then featured in several movies such as “Smoke and Mirrors” (2008), “Ayitale” (2013), “Dangerous Twins” (2004), “Heavens Hell” (2015) and “93 days” (2016) which stars her as Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh.
A compelling human story of dedication, sacrifice, resilience and survival, The movie which is directed by Steve Gukas, and produced by Bolanle Austen-Peters, Dotun Olakunri and Steve Gukas, premiered in cinemas on September 16, 2016.
“93 Days” demonstrates the bravery of the late Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh and her colleagues. From their encounter with the late American-Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who was the index case of the Ebola Virus Disease, to ensuring that the right medical procedures were in place to stop the spread of the disease in the country.
Starring Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey as Patrick Sawyer, the movie also stars Bimbo Akintola as Nigerian hero, Dr Stella Adadevoh, Gideon Okeke, Somkhele Idhalama, Bimbo Manuel and veteran Hollywood actor, Danny Glover.
Nolly Thursdays will air on TrybeTv(GoTVngCh.97) by 5:30pm and ONTV(UHF Ch.41, GoTV Ch.96) by 7:30pm.
