A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) and elder statesman, Bode George, has thrown his support behind the recognition of Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s authentic National Secretary.
The PDP has been embroiled in a leadership tussle over the position, with both Ude-Okoye and Samuel Anyanwu laying claim to the office.
However, after a BoT meeting on Wednesday, members urged the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) to swear in Ude-Okoye immediately.

Speaking on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, on Friday, George explained that the decision was based on the Court of Appeal ruling, which affirmed Ude-Okoye as the legitimate National Secretary of the PDP.
“So far, the facts that they brought, I am completely on board with that. What do you expect the elders to do? The report was clear that there was no counter Court of Appeal judgment apart from the one from Okoye,” George stated.
He further noted that if Anyanwu chooses to appeal to the Supreme Court and secures a favorable ruling, the party would abide by that decision.
However, he urged Anyanwu to let go of the dispute and allow peace to reign so the PDP can focus on its role as the main opposition party.
Despite the ongoing crisis, George maintained that the PDP remains more internally organized than the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He expressed confidence that the party would not collapse, emphasizing that its foundational strength remains intact.
