The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) today moved to lay to rest controversies over his education, as he broke the silence earlier today. To further lay credence to Buhari’s speech, his academic credentials have been made public by the Government College, Katsina, where he obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC).
Online media platform, Premium Times, said it has obtained copies of the records, including the former head of state’s secondary school results. It also obtained a print out from the University of Cambridge.
The Nigerian Army had reportedly told a press conference on Tuesday through spokesperson Brigadier General Olajide Laleye that the army could not find Buhari’s school leaving certificate in its records. Premium Times however learnt from its sources that while the army spokesperson was addressing the media, the Department of Military Secretary had sent the presidential candidate of APC his academic records, as requested by him.
Buhari’s certificate has been a talking point for the presidential candidate’s opponents, who have insisted that he should produce his certificate or be disqualified for the election. Throughout the speculations, comments and discussion, the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made no comments.
