The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Osun Chapter has described as a mere political jamboree, the statements by some groups endorsing Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for a second term.

In a statement signed by the NNPP Chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi called on the governor to be wary of individuals endorsing him for a second term.

The party claimed Oyetola was barely three years in office adding that the same individuals will still endorse another candidate who will offer them money as 2021 approaches.

It called on the groups to allow the people of Osun pick their governor noting that it is nauseating to read that there was no vacancy in the Governor’s Office.

NNPP described people in the group as leaders who have been compromised and were trying to justify their pay adding that the position of the party remained that for Adegboyega Oyetola to merit a second term, it will not come through sycophants who are professionals in creating crisis and organising charades so they can feast on the governor.

“We have said it on several occasions that people should stop distracting Oyetola with a second-term agenda when he is yet to commence job and also considering the pace of underdevelopment in different sectors of Osun do State from infrastructure to education, industrialisation, civil service and judicial reforms, enterprise development, security, prompt payment to pensioners and promotion of civil servants, among others.”

The party called on the state governor to shelve the idea of running for a second term adding that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is known for political jamborees and using money to induce voters.

NNPP also maintained that it is convinced beyond doubt that the only way the state can develop is to give a chance to another candidate after the expiration of his first four-year tenure.
