The Catholic Bishop of Pankshin in Plateau State, Most Rev. Michael Gokum, has called on the Federal Government to urgently provide support to victims of the recent crisis in the state.
The appeal was made during the launch of the 2024 Lenten Campaign at Christ the King Catholic Church, Dyis, in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state.
Recent attacks by gunmen in communities in Mangu, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas (LGAs) have resulted in numerous casualties and displacement of scores of people.

Bishop Gokum expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis that has ensued in many communities in the state and urged the government to provide relief to those affected.
The bishop highlighted the challenges faced by displaced communities, emphasizing their eagerness to return to their homes.
He urged the government to expedite action to facilitate their return and called for more stringent measures to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state and across the nation.
