Reportedly, the DSS has taken into custody Kingsley Obiora, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
According to Business Day, the suspended CBN governor Godwin Emefiele was arrested over allegations of financial mismanagement.
Deputy Governor Obiora is in charge of economic policy at the central bank.
The investigation into CBN, which Godwin Emefiele is overseeing, led to his detention.
According to Infostride News archives, DSS has been holding Emefiele since the 11th of June, 2023, the day after President Bola Tinubu fired him.
Tinubu nominated Jim Obazee as a special investigator in July to lead the investigation of the central bank’s actions when Emefiele was in charge.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, the DSS spokesperson, and Dr. Isa Abdulmumin, the CBN spokesperson, have not yet responded to the media’s request for comment.
