Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has come out to say that the team are still exceeding expectations this season. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, his players need to learn how to win games 1-0 because that is what big teams do and Chelsea prides itself to be a big club.

Maresca added that he and the hierarchy agreed that the team should be going for top four after his second season, so they are currently doing better than they all expect.
His words, “We need to learn how to win games 1-0. I said many times. In the same way, in the last game against West Ham we were losing but in the end we won 2-1. That is part of the season, part of football, sometimes you are down and win and sometimes it happens like tonight. But I said already to the players weeks ago that as a team we need to learn to win games 1-0. That is what big teams do.
If there is something positive it is that we can be focused on the Premier League and Conference [League], especially in the Premier League. For me, a good season is seeing the team improving game after game; go through bad moments through difficulty – it is the only thing I think that can bring this club to compete for something important. This is exactly what I think.
“The schedule [decided with the hierarchy] was, second season go for top four and then after the second season, try to compete for a title. This is also the reason why I have said many times that we are ahead of my expectations because we spend almost all season in the top four. This shows how ahead we are in terms of expectations.”
WOW.
Chelsea Football Club is an English professional football club based in Fulham, West London. Founded in 1905, they play their home games at Stamford Bridge.
The club competes in the Premier League, the top division of English football. They won their first major honour, the League championship, in 1955. The club won the FA Cup for the first time in 1970, their first European honour, the Cup Winners’ Cup, in 1971, and became the third English club to win the Club World Cup in 2022.
On 7 May 2022, Chelsea confirmed that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wyss, to acquire the club. The group was later known as BlueCo.
The UK government approved the £4.25bn takeover, ending Abramovich’s 19-year ownership of the club. Bruce Buck, who served as chairman since 2003, was replaced by Boehly, while long-serving club director and de facto sporting director Marina Granovskaia left, as did Petr Čech from the role of technical and performance advisor.
