Chelsea will refuse to sell Nemanja Matic on the cheap this summer with Antonio Conte ready to hold out for an offer of at least £40million, according to reports.
The Premier League champions are moving closer to securing a deal for Tiemoue Bakayoko – the Frenchman looks set to join from Monaco for around £35m.
Bakayoko is expected to hold talks with Chelsea over the weekend and his arrival in west London could instigate a move for Matic.
The Serbian midfielder has emerged as a target for Manchester United having worked with manager Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
Matic, who was close to leaving Chelsea last summer, is said to be keen on a move to Old Trafford as he fears he no longer has a future with the champions.
Bakayoko, who helped Monaco storm to the French title last season, will be expected to partner N’Golo Kante in Chelsea’s midfield next season, leaving Matic surplus to requirements.
But the Evening Standard say the club will not allow Matic to leave on the cheap, with the board only ready to listen to offers in excess of £40m.
