Tottenham have named their 25-man squad for the International Champions Cup, with Vincent Janssen, Josh Onomah and Marcus Edwards the notable absentees.
Dutch striker Janssen and 21-year-old midfielder Onomah spent last season out on loan with Fenerbahce and Aston Villa respectively.
Edwards — once likened to a young Lionel Messi by manager Mauricio Pochettino — has been unable to add to his solitary first-team appearance back in September 2016, and a loan spell with Norwich City was cut short in April this year.
Pochettino will provide an update on the absent players’ situations during Spurs’ tour of the USA and state whether they remain part of his plans. Moussa Sissoko missed last year’s ICC due to illness.
Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez and Son Heung-Min, who were also involved in the World Cup but did not progress past the round of 16, have been named in the touring party.
However, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele and Toby Alderweireld are all on holiday.
Harry Winks has also been left at home to continue his rehabilitation from an ankle injury, while the nine Spurs players who reached the World Cup semifinals are also missing the matches in the U.S.
Tottenham fly to Los Angeles on Sunday and face Roma, Barcelona and AC Milan in the next nine days.
