The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communication Technology, Tunji Olaopa has on Wednesday June 11, 2014 presented certificates to the successful candidates of the UNCTAD/ECOWAS on-line training for the e-commerce practitioners of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in the conference hall of the Ministry in Abuja.
In his speech at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary congratulated the participants and stressed the need for training and retraining of staff to enhance the productivity of officers in the civil service. He added that e-learning is a way of the future for the Ministry, advising that people do not have to sit or wait and be lamenting. He called on them to strive towards getting training as well as utilizing their resources to acquire more knowledge.
He averred that success in the civil service is related to change in the mindset of individuals towards that direction. He also tasked the successful candidates to be ready to share the knowledge gained through the training with their colleagues during the in-house sessions of the Ministry.
In his response, Majekodunmi Oluwole, who spoke on behalf of the participants thanked the management for offering them the opportunity to acquire more skills in their various fields. He noted that the training has broadened their knowledge and equipped them with better skills. He further explained that the course was designed by UNCTAD/ECOWAS specifically for those engaged in e-commerce as well as policy and law makers. The ceremony was well attended by the Management staff of the Ministry.
