The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has demanded the resignation of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, citing his alleged failure to address the rising security challenges in the state.
The call for Governor Soludo’s resignation comes in the wake of a recent attack in the state that resulted in the death of two policemen, two civilians, and the abduction of several others.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday night, involved an attack on the convoy of Chief Chris Uba, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

COSEYL, in a statement issued by its President General, Goodluck Ibem, expressed deep concern over the security situation in Anambra State and called for swift action to apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.
The statement emphasized the gravity of the attack, particularly during the Christmas period, which is a time of significance for Christians worldwide.
“We find it deeply troubling that such a violent attack could occur during a period that holds great significance for Christians.
This is unacceptable, and we demand swift and decisive action,” the statement read.
COSEYL gave Governor Soludo a 48-hour ultimatum to resign and apologize to the people of Anambra State for what it described as “leadership incompetence and failure to protect the citizens.”
The coalition stressed the need for immediate measures to address the security challenges facing the state, including the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the attack.
The demand for Governor Soludo’s resignation underscores the growing concerns over the state of security in Anambra State and the urgent need for effective measures to restore peace and safety to the region.
