An Abia State High Court sitting in the Ukwa Judicial Division has affirmed Emmanuel Otti as the duly recognized Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State.
In its ruling, the court restrained Prince G.O. Ndubueze from parading himself as the LP Chairman in the state or interfering in the activities of Emmanuel Otti-led leadership of the party.
The court further declared the purported suspension of Otti by the Julius Abure-led faction, based on the 2024 Constitution of the party, as unlawful, unconstitutional, and of no legal effect.

The court noted that the 2024 Constitution relied upon by Abure to suspend Otti has not been duly recognised or ratified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as required by law.
The judgment puts to rest the lingering leadership tussle between two factions of the party in the state—one loyal to Emmanuel Otti, who is aligned with the Governor Alex Otti/Peter Obi political family, and the other led by Prince G.O. Ndubueze, who supports the Julius Abure-led national leadership.
The ruling is expected to restore calm in the state chapter of the Labour Party following weeks of internal crisis.
