The Bayelsa State High Court in Yenagoa has issued an order restraining associates of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from holding a planned mega rally in the state.
InfoStride News reports that the rally, organised by a political group known as the NEW Associates, was scheduled to take place on April 12, 2025, in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Justice I.A. Uzakah granted the Motion Ex-Parte on Thursday in Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025, which was filed by the Bayelsa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Biriyai Dambo, SAN.

The lead convener of the NEW Associates, Mr. George Turnah, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike were listed as the first and second defendants/respondents, respectively.
Other defendants include the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command.
Following the court’s ruling, the matter has been adjourned to April 11, 2025, for hearing.
