Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder, Bamidele Alli, is backing on the club’s unrelenting home support to enhance their chances of recording their first win of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men have drawn their last two matches since their opening defeat at Manchester United.
Alli, 19, in just 40 minutes of Premier League football, has a goal to his credit in only his second appearance in the English top flight.
“The fans were amazing when I came on at Leicester last week. They’ve been incredible since I’ve been here and I can’t thank them enough for their support,” he said, speaking to Spurs’ official match day programme for Everton’s visit to White Hart Lane.
The teenager, who is eligible for Nigeria, is one of 14 newcomers in coach Gareth Southgate’s Under-21 squad for England’s games against the USA and Norway.
Saturday evening kick-off will be the first time the former MK Dons prodigy will come face-to-face with the Toffees, who will be looking to rebound from last Sunday’s home defeat by Premier League leaders Manchester City.
And Dele, who missed the disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Stoke City, hopes to get more playing time under his belt, especially in absence of the injured Christian Ericksen – out until next month with knee injury – and with Andros Townsend doubtful for the game through an ankle injury.
“Everton are a good team and it will be tough, but we’ll be concentrating on our own game and I’m sure we can pick up our first win in front of our home supporters,” Dele continued.
“Of course, I’m hoping to get some game time and make my home debut at the Lane, but if it doesn’t happen this weekend, I’m confident it will come soon.”
