The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has distanced itself from the purported recognition of former Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as the leader of the party in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Delta APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party dismissed a claim by the National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, who had declared Omo-Agege as the party’s leader in the state.
Onojeghuo described Morka’s statement as false, insensitive, and not reflective of the collective efforts of party stakeholders working to strengthen the APC in Delta.

“Barr. Morka’s unilateral statement that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is the leader of the APC in Delta State is not only false and insensitive to the collective efforts of Party stakeholders working tirelessly to grow the Party, but it is also entirely unfounded and does not reflect the official position of the Party in Delta State,” the statement read.
The party spokesman emphasized that the APC constitution does not provide for the designation of a state party leader and that such a position is not subject to appointment by any individual, including the National Publicity Secretary.
“At the moment, Delta APC has not officially recognized Senator Omo-Agege as the leader of the Party in the State,” he added.
Onojeghuo accused Morka of attempting to impose a leader on the party without considering the roles and contributions of other critical stakeholders. He described Morka’s remarks as “lamentable” and reflective of a lack of understanding of the political realities in Delta APC.
“The Delta State APC remains committed to building a formidable, inclusive, and progressive political platform,” he stated.
The party urged members to disregard what it termed a “misleading claim” and remain focused on strengthening the APC in the state.
While acknowledging the contributions of all stakeholders, including Omo-Agege, the party insisted that leadership in Delta APC is a collective responsibility guided by due process and internal democracy.
The statement further criticized Morka for making what it called “arrogant and condescending pronouncements” that are misleading and insensitive to the structures governing the party.
“The APC in Delta State operates under a democratic framework, where leadership is a collective and collaborative process, not the arbitrary declaration of any national officer,” Onojeghuo said.
He warned that Morka’s comments could cause unnecessary division within the party at a time when unity is crucial.
The Delta APC also called on the national leadership to restrain Morka from making further statements that could destabilize the party.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to working with all stakeholders and the APC national leadership to safeguard its collective interests.
