Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, officially returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Accord Party, discrediting rumors of a 2027 gubernatorial bid against Governor Seyi Makinde.
At the party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Adelabu stressed his return was driven by a commitment to strengthen the party rather than personal ambitions, stating that his departure to the Accord Party in May 2022 was based on principle rather than dissatisfaction with the APC or its members.
Addressing party faithful, Adelabu clarified, “I returned not because of a 2027 governorship ambition or to take over the party, but because I believe this is a party that brought President Bola Tinubu to power, and we need to support him to deliver on his electoral promises.”

He emphasized that the focus should be on governance rather than politics and expressed his dedication to supporting Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Adelabu outlined his return as a gesture of cooperation and reconciliation, aiming to build a stronger party for the 2027 elections.
APC’s state chairman, Isaac Omodewu, represented by the party’s secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanike, reiterated the party’s openness to reconciliation and its willingness to address grievances.
Former deputy governor Moses Adeyemo emphasized the necessity of peace and unity among party members for progress, highlighting a collective effort towards a stronger APC.
