The Delta State Police Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has said the Command is committed to the security of the citizens of the state with the deployment of officers to all the polling units as well as some speculated hot spots to maintain peace and calm all through the electioneering process in the forthcoming local government elections.
CP Ali gave the assurance in a statement signed by the Acting Police Public Relations, DSP Odafe Bright and made available to newsmen.
The Police Commissioner who said he is resolute to ensure the sanctity of the electoral process informed that all electoral materials and officials engaged in the election are secured.
CP Ali appealed to front runners in the election to caution their supporters and foot soldiers to restrain themselves from causing chaos stressing that such will not be tolerated.
He also warned that no Police aid or security agent will be allowed to escort their principals or any important personality, VIPs to the polling unit or on any movement while the elections last.
CP Ali said any security aid who violates the directive will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He reiterated that Police personnel deployed for the elections will be professional in carrying out their designated duties.
