The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has condemned the invasion of its secretariat in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, allegedly by thugs loyal to Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former governor James Ibori, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, the party described the incident as “unlawful and provocative.”
“The attention of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the unfortunate and unlawful invasion of its party secretariat in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday by thugs believed to be acting on the orders of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whereby they converted the building and repainted it with APC colours,” the statement read.

The PDP accused Ibori-Suenu of attempting to appropriate the party’s structures and assets to benefit her new political party. Okorodudu criticized her defection as “poorly planned and driven by personal ambition rather than genuine political ideology.”
He further stated, “Rather than building her own political identity, she has resorted to hijacking the PDP’s established infrastructure, seeking to dress her APC venture in the robes of the PDP’s credibility and legacy.
This act of theft, conducted in broad daylight, is an affront to the principles of democracy and political decency.”
While reaffirming the party’s commitment to peace and the rule of law, Okorodudu urged PDP members to remain calm and not respond to the provocation with violence.
“We implore our members not to respond to this provocative act with violence or disorder but to remain law-abiding while we pursue appropriate legal remedies,” he said.
He also called on Ibori-Suenu and her APC collaborators to build their own identity instead of relying on the PDP’s reputation.
“If they truly believe in the APC’s vision, they should strive to create their own identity rather than relying on the PDP’s structures and legacy,” Okorodudu said.
The PDP further urged security agencies to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure they are brought to justice.
“Delta State is a peaceful and enlightened society, and we will not allow the forces of political mischief to destabilize the peace in the state,” Okorodudu added.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the PDP’s commitment to upholding democratic values, justice, and good governance.
