The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the invasion of its secretariat in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, by suspected thugs allegedly loyal to Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Governor James Ibori, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Delta State PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, and made available to journalists on Sunday.
According to the statement, the suspected thugs, allegedly acting on Ibori-Suenu’s orders, unlawfully took over the PDP secretariat on Thursday, repainted the building in APC colors, and attempted to appropriate the party’s structures for the APC.

“The attention of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the unfortunate and unlawful invasion of its party secretariat in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday by thugs believed to be acting on the orders of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whereby they converted the building and repainted it with APC colours,” the statement read.
Dr. Okorodudu described the act as disgraceful and an affront to democracy, stating that it reflects the desperation of Ibori-Suenu to gain political relevance within the APC by leveraging the PDP’s established credibility and structures.
“This shows that her defection was poorly planned and driven by personal ambition rather than any genuine political ideology.
Rather than building her own political identity, she has resorted to hijacking the PDP’s established infrastructure, seeking to dress her APC venture in the robes of the PDP’s credibility and legacy,” the statement said.
The PDP called on members and supporters to remain calm and refrain from violence in response to the provocation, emphasizing its commitment to the rule of law and its intent to pursue appropriate legal remedies.
“We implore our members not to respond to this provocative act with violence or disorder but to remain law-abiding while we pursue appropriate legal remedies,” Okorodudu said.
The statement further urged Ibori-Suenu and her APC collaborators to build their own political identity instead of riding on the hard-earned reputation of the PDP.
“If they truly believe in the APC’s vision, they should strive to create their own identity rather than relying on the PDP’s structures and legacy.
Delta State is a peaceful and enlightened society, and we will not allow the forces of political mischief to destabilize the peace in the state,” he added.
Dr. Okorodudu called on security agencies to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure they face justice.
He reaffirmed the PDP’s commitment to democracy, justice, and good governance, vowing to defend the party’s integrity and reputation against opportunistic acts.
