Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has expressed deep sadness over the demise of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, at the age of 67.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori extended his condolences to Akeredolu’s wife, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, family members, the government, and the people of Ondo State.
Governor Oborevwori praised the late Governor Akeredolu as an urbane and cerebral leader of great value who was dedicated to the growth and development of Ondo State and Nigeria.

He highlighted Akeredolu’s role as the chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and his contributions to the legal profession as a senior lawyer and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I commiserate with the Akeredolu family, the government, and people of Ondo State on the painful passing of my brother governor, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN),” Governor Oborevwori stated.
He emphasized Akeredolu’s significant contributions to the legal profession and governance, citing his tenure as President of the Nigerian Bar Association and later as Governor of Ondo State as examples of his impactful career.
Governor Oborevwori concluded by offering prayers for the repose of the late Governor’s soul, expressing confidence that Akeredolu’s achievements would continue to inspire others to pursue careers in law and contribute to the nation’s development.
