Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, visited Okuama, where he warned against innocent citizens suffering for crimes they did not commit.
The governor was accompanied by Commander 63 Brigade, Brig. Gen. Unachukwu Ugochukwu, and other top government officials.
Speaking to journalists at Okuama, Governor Oborevwori assured the safe return of the indigenes who fled the community in the wake of the crisis over the killing of 17 officers and soldiers on March 14.

“We have followed due process in the whole incident. The people have been buried and the king that was detained has been released Friday, and I am here to see what happened in Okuama community,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori expressed his commitment to enhancing peace and security in Delta State, noting that the Okuama 17 incident was unexpected and against their efforts for peace and security.
He reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s promise that no innocent person would be victimized, emphasizing that there has been no harassment of citizens of Okuama community since the incident.
The governor stated that his administration was working diligently to resolve the dispute and assured the citizens of Okuama that they would soon return home.
“I want to assure the people of Okuama there is no point running away from your community.
We are going to bring you back to your community. It’s only those that are involved the Military are looking for,” Governor Oborevwori concluded.
