Diego Costa hasn’t had the happiest of campaigns at Chelsea, with a struggle to recapture last season’s barnstorming form followed by a hostile reception from the Stamford Bridge fans in the aftermath of Jose Mourinho’s departure.
Although Costa looked more like his old self against Watford, scoring twice (and being booked) in an eventful draw, reports in Spain continue to suggest he could be on his way back to La Liga.
One destination could be his old employers Atletico Madrid, with the Sun reporting that their president Enrique Cerezo has suggested Costa could return to the club he left in a £32 million move in summer 2014.
The paper quotes Cerezo as telling Spanish channel RTVE: “Right now, Diego is a Chelsea player and he has to focus on Chelsea.
“But you never know what will happen in football — and sometimes players do return to their former clubs.”
Sometimes they do, Enrique. Often, of course, they don’t.
