Former Senator representing Kogi Central, Dino Melaye, has criticized the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, accusing him and his alleged backers of lacking political finesse.
In a post shared on his X account on Monday, Melaye stated that Damagum and his “paymasters” would soon be taught “elementary politics 101.”
He accused the party’s leadership of failing to learn lessons from previous presidential primaries held in Port Harcourt and Abuja.

“Damagum, his paymasters will be taught elementary politics 101.
The lessons of Port Harcourt and Abuja presidential primaries have not been learnt. It is too early to determine the day at noon,” Melaye wrote.
The PDP has been mired in internal conflicts since the removal of its former acting National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Recently, the crisis escalated when a faction of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) suspended Damagum, alongside the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade.
However, the Federal High Court in Abuja intervened, issuing an order restraining the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) from removing Damagum.
The court further directed that no individual should be recognized as the party’s National Chairman except Damagum until the next national convention, slated for December 2025.
The leadership tussle underscores the continued divisions within the PDP as it seeks to address internal challenges ahead of upcoming elections.
