The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed worry over the existence of moles within its ranks, especially those allegedly working for the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The party while expressing concern in a press release jointly Signed by the National Vice Chairman South East Zone, Chilos Godsent and the Zonal Secretary, ADC South East, Pastor Frank Agumadu urged members not to allow paid PDP, APC moles to destroy their efforts of many years.
Recall that 27 out of the 32 state chairmen recently move against National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu.
Reacting to the development, ADC said “We have observed that some paid political moles who joined the party a few months ago in disguise of vying for election have begun to implement their contract of coming to destabilize and destroy the ADC and distract us from focusing on contesting and winning elections in forthcoming 2023 general elections.
“Understanding that many State Chairmen and few National Executive Committee (NEC) members who participated in the attempt to destabilize our great party – ADC may have done so in utter ignorance of the agenda of the ring leader and also the consequences of such action in an election year.
The release further reads, “Against the backdrop of the recent unfolding in our great Party – the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the attempt by paid political agents serving the interest of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to cause internal crises in ADC in other to bring to nought the efforts of many years of party Leaders and loyalists that has painstakingly build a formidable National and International Party with Capacity to contest and win elections and liberate millions of Nigerians out of hopelessness, misery, and abject poverty.
“The ADC South East Zonal Working Committee (ZWC) Meeting rose from an emergency meeting with the following resolutions:
“ADC South East Zone supports the Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu-led National Working Committee (NWC) and is committed to building a vibrant party that can combat and defeat APC and PDP in the forthcoming 2023 general elections;
“Going by the provisions of ADC constitution, Electoral Act 2022 and the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria, the purported State Chairmen’s Forum (SCF) that attempted to destabilize the Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu led NWC and ADC in totality is alien, illegal and unacceptable to the Party’s constitution and therefore should be resisted by the teeming members of our great Party;
“The provisions of Article 14(1)(i) of the ADC Constitution, it’s only the National Chairman (NC) of our Party that has the legal and constitutional powers to convene any National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party and also to preside over such NEC meeting;
“The ADC South East Zone, therefore, wishes to support and align itself to the resolutions and position of the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC) and the joint meeting of the NEC and the Governorship Candidates of ADC in the forthcoming 2023 general elections that passed a Vote of Confidence (VoC) on the Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu led National Working Committee (NWC) and also the extension of the tenure of Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu led National Working Committee (NWC) by One Year;
“We, therefore, enjoin all the State Chairmen and NEC members who was misled and deceived into attempting to destabilize the Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to please retrace their steps and positions to join efforts with the Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu led NWC to build the Party ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections”
