Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s youth wing has asked both Labour Party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi and his People’s Democratic Party rival, Atiku Abubakar, to refrain from making any more statements about the next presidential election in 2023.
The Igbo community warned that the rhetoric coming from some politicians could destabilize Nigeria’s democratic system.
In a statement sent to the media on Wednesday, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide National President Mazi Okwu Nnabuike stated his remarks.

According to the media, Obi alleged in a press conference on Monday that the Supreme Court had knowingly accepted constitutional violations regarding the requirements for presidential candidates.
At a time when united efforts are needed to reconstruct the nation, Okwu warned that the words emanating from both leaders could create greater challenges for the country.
The Ohanaeze leader urged the PDP and the LP to “swallow the electoral defeat and move on in the best interest of the nation,” while stressing that an electoral process cannot favor all contestants at the same time.
There’s no denying that everyone had ideas for the country that they hoped to implement, but President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was ahead of the game.
Despite their defeat, they should share their plan with Mr. President, who has asked for their help in moving the country forward.
A million such public remarks cannot overturn the ruling of the Supreme Court, thus we advised them not to be beating up the polity with their utterances in the name of press conferences.
“The divisive comments will only create a situation where their followers and supporters develop hatred for the government in power, thereby breeding distrust among the citizens and the government.”
He went on to say that post-election court rulings were generally positive for all parties.
It’s unfortunate that certain politicians praise the court system when it rules in their favor and then criticize it when it rules against them.
“Nigerian politicians should abandon the ‘it must be me mindest’. This is one of the issues that has slowed the country’s progress.
“Now that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is on the saddle, everyone should gather round him and make him successful. Those who hope for his failure are the true traitors to their country.
