Minister of Works, David Umahi, has urged Nigerians to take the 2027 general elections seriously, warning voters against staying away from polling units on election day.
Umahi said citizens who fail to participate in the electoral process should not complain about the outcome or the quality of leadership that emerges.
He encouraged Nigerians to exercise their civic responsibility by turning out to vote and making informed choices during the election.
The minister stressed that elections provide citizens with an opportunity to determine who governs them and influence the direction of the country.
Umahi urged voters not to treat election day as an opportunity for leisure activities while leaving others to decide the country’s future.
He maintained that Nigerians must participate actively in the electoral process if they want to demand accountability from elected leaders.
His comments come as political parties and their supporters intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
