The Head of the Secretariat of National Council on Information, Dr. Folasade Yemi -Esan has called the attention of the nation and especially the delegates to the Extraordinary Meeting of the National Council of Information (NCI) to give deserving attention to the issues arising from the digitization of Television Stations to ensure that the nation transits adequately without hitch.
Dr. Folasade Yemi –Esan made the call in her welcome address to the delegates to the Extraordinary Meeting of the National Council of Information today, Saturday, 5th July, 2014.
The meeting being held at the Rockview Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja had themes ‘Digitzation process’ and ‘Security in our Nation’.
The event attracted the attendance of the National Security Adviser, the Minister of Communication, the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Commissioners of Information of States of the Nigerian Federation and Heads of the Agencies under Federal Ministry of Information joined by the Officials of Federal Ministry of Information.
Dr. Folasade Yemi –Esan who is also the Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Information stated that the extraordinary meeting of the NCI was meant to apprise members of the meeting and the nation with the level of implementation of the digitization process throughout the country. She also express the need to remind the council members of the 17 point communiqué issued at the end of the 7th Biennial Conference of Africa Broadcasters (AFRICAST) held in Abuja, 21st to 23rd October, 2008.
The Head of the NCI Secretariat, Folasade Yemi-Esan warned of the dire consequences Nigeria risks, of paying painful penalty of being isolated from the world’s broadcasting community.
