Across the pond in the United Kingdom, Ed Sheeran’s tropical tune “Shape Of You” is on top for week No. 12, and there doesn’t seem to be any stopping the smash hit, which is also ruling in the U.S. The song closest to beating “Shape” is another Ed Sheeran cut, “Galway Girl,” which could potentially claim the throne and kick “Shape Of You” down to second…if the latter will ever stop selling and streaming.
Drake’s More Life album cut “Passionfruit” is now proving that it isn’t just the type of track the debuts well and then disappears, but one which could wind up being a serious smash. The track began at No. 4 last week in the U.K., and this time around it is up one peg to third place. The song is also the highest-charting track from Drake’s latest in America as well.
Clean Bandit’s latest single “Symphony” is also showing signs it will stick around, as this week it rises from sixth (where it debuted last week) to fourth. The track, which features Zara Larsson, is just another in a string of smashes from the dance group.
Ed Sheeran is also at No. 5 with “Castle On The Hill,” which was released at the same time as “Shape” back in January. The song peaked at No. 2, and since then it hasn’t strayed very far. Just behind that successful cut is The Chainsmokers and Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This,” which also stalled just one position short of becoming a chart-topper soon after it dropped.
New to the top 10 this week is “It Ain’t Me,” the catchy, upbeat dance-pop tune from producer Kygo and vocalist Selena Gomez. The song has been climbing charts around the world for the past week frames, and now it has become Kygo’s highest-charting single and just his second top 10 in the U.K., and the same can be said for Gomez.
Steady at No. 8 is Martin Jensen’s “Solo Dance,” followed by pop newcomer Anne-Marie, whose latest, “Ciao Adios,” gains just one spot over last week’s showing.
In tenth place this time around is Drake, this time with another More Life song called “Blem.” The track, which debuted at No. 14 last week when his entire record charted inside the top 100, surprisingly grew this week, giving the hip-hop star his fourth top 10 from his playlist project (which has only been out for two weeks) following “Fake Love,” “Passionfruit” and “KMT.”
