The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned members of the public against dealing with Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed officer allegedly using the agency’s name to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
In a statement issued on Monday, the DSS said Godwin, who was sacked from the Service, has continued to impersonate a serving officer and engage in fraudulent activities.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby alerts members of the public of the activities of one Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, a dismissed staff.

He is reportedly engaging in unscrupulous activities, including using the name of the Service to defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement read.
The Service noted that the ex-officer has been extorting money from citizens under various pretences using the DSS’s name.
It therefore urged the public to refrain from any dealings with Godwin or anyone claiming association with him, emphasizing that such individuals are not representatives of the agency.
The DSS further advised that all legitimate enquiries, requests, or complaints should be directed through its official contact channels — phone number 09088373515 and its designated email address.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and accountability, the agency warned that anyone caught impersonating or attempting to tarnish its image would face the full weight of the law.
