Ebusua Dwarfs of Ghana cruised to a comfortable 2-0 win over visiting Angolan club side Petro Atletico in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup first-leg tie played at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium, Cape Coast on Sunday 32nd February 2014.
Dwarfs went ahead four minutes after the hour Mark when David Gomes finished off a solo effort with a half volley to send the partisan crowd cheering. Dwarfs dominated the first half, but poor finishing denied them further goals.
Atletico managed to hold their own without conceding in the first half, but from recess Dwarfs were the hungrier side and fought to double the advantage.
Ricky Adjei Mensah consolidated the lead with a clever chip from just inside the area after he was picked up by a pass from the middle.
From recess, Coach Anthony Mintah replaced Ernest Ackon with Francis Attuquaye whilst Gomez came in for Ato Aggrey which paid off. Petro Athlectico’s best chance came in the 87th minute when Flavio Amado missed the goal post by inches. Dwarfs travel to Angola in seven days for the reverse fixture.
