Ahead of the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo, has called on the people of the state to use their votes to punish the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government for its alleged underperformance.
During a solidarity visit from members of the ‘Obidient Movement’ in Edo South Senatorial District in Benin City, Okpebholo emphasized the need for change. “If they had done well, I would not have contested.
I urge you to punish them with your votes because if you leave it for them, our unborn children will suffer,” he stated.

Okpebholo pledged to surpass the achievements of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration within the first year of his tenure if elected.
He expressed gratitude to the movement for their support and vowed not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
Comrade Ikhuenbor Felix Igbinevbo, the Coordinator General of the Obidient Movement in Edo South Senatorial District, explained their support for the APC candidate, citing Okpebholo’s strong connections with the people and his impressive track record.
Igbinevbo highlighted the group’s commitment to good governance, fairness, and accountability.
“We supported Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, because we felt it was the turn of the Igbos.
And in Edo, it is the turn of Esan, and we need the most qualified candidate who will work for everyone in the state and not a stranger,” he said.
The visit underscores the growing momentum and support for Okpebholo as the state gears up for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
