The collation of results for the Edo State governorship election resumed on Sunday, with All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, taking the lead in 11 out of the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the latest figures announced by the Returning Officer, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, the APC leads with 275,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trails with 220,892 votes.
The Labour Party (LP) is currently in third place, garnering 18,737 votes.

The results from 17 of the 18 LGAs in the state have been tallied, with only Ikpoba-Okha LGA yet to be announced.
Senator Okpebholo’s APC has a comfortable lead, although tensions remain as the final results are awaited.
In a heated moment during the announcement, a PDP agent contested the results from Oredo LGA, accusing the electoral officials of tampering with the figures.
This led to a brief exchange with APC representatives, who strongly disagreed with the PDP’s allegations.
Professor Kuta called for calm during the proceedings, urging all parties to respect the collation process.
