Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has pledged his support for Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Edo State, to ensure his victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
Otti made this known in Umuahia after a meeting with members of the LP’s National Working Committee (NWC), Akpata, and other governorship aspirants from the Edo State primary elections.
Expressing his confidence in Akpata’s candidacy, Otti emphasized the importance of reconciliation within the LP to secure success in the governorship poll.

He highlighted the progress made in reconciling differences among party members post-election, stressing the significance of unity.
In a similar vein, the National Chairman of the LP, Julius Abure, stated that the meeting in Abia was aimed at discussing the aftermath of the primary elections with Otti and party leaders.
Abure emphasized the need for a united front to face the campaign challenges, assuring that the party had resolved most of the issues among aspirants to present a strong and cohesive campaign team.
Abure dismissed rumors of internal crises within the party, clarifying that aside from an issue with the National Treasurer, the LP had no other significant internal matters.
He praised Governor Otti’s performance in Abia, affirming that LP members would remain undeterred by any form of harassment.
In response, Olumide Akpata expressed optimism about the LP’s chances in the Edo State governorship election, citing Governor Otti’s successful tenure in Abia as a basis for victory.
